Nanjing Institute of Technology is a provincial undergraduate university in Jiangsu Province with a history of a hundred years. It features in engineering with distinctive application orientation. It is the chairman of National Special Committee of Application-Oriented Undergraduate Universities and Colleges, the vice director of National Service Union of Training Units for Post-Graduates in Special Needs, the demonstration project for local universities and colleges to transform in the national “13th Five-Year Plan” period—one of the pilot universities to implement the project of industry-education integration, one of the first batch of universities in the Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program and CDIO Engineering Education Reform Program implemented by the Ministry of Education. It is also a national experimental zone to innovate talent-training model in electromechanical control field, a national model university in industry-university-research cooperation and graduate employment, and the chairman of the Applied Undergraduate College Research Association in Jiangsu Higher Education Association. It has successively won such honors as “Advanced University for Teaching in Jiangsu Province”, “The Demonstration Base of Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Jiangsu Province”, “The Demonstration University for Safe Campus in Jiangsu Province” and “The Civilizational Campus in Jiangsu Province”.
